About

It all started when…

I wanted to do more. As a kid, art was a way for me to express myself. As an adult, that hasn’t changed. I was fortunate to realize this passion and, in turn, help others to do the same. Through Grounded Gem, I’m now able to bring therapeutic art experiences—individual, group, community collaborations, art commissions, and more—to wider audiences than ever.

The benefits of art therapy don’t have to end at the close of our sessions, either. Just like school, where you do homework to continue learning, extend your healing with Grounded Gem’s at-home art therapy kits. Each kit provides thorough guidance on how to continue your or your child’s creative expression and self-exploration—it’s like I’m right there with you! The idea is for parents to provide their children with therapeutic materials to encourage self-esteem building, expression, and coping strategies through intentional artmaking at home. Our art kits allow people to grow, create, and connect—the foundation of a happy and healthy life.

Meet Krissy

As a clinician, I follow a humanistic client-centered approach, utilizing various techniques and tools to tailor a custom path for each of my clients. I find it successful to meet clients, both adults and kids, where they are at. I first build rapport and let them gain control in our space to feel comfortable expressing themselves. During this process, I evaluate my observations and the reasons for referral, then develop a plan for progress. As they start to create, the subconscious and information come up naturally through artmaking in a way that allows us to process it together in a safe and non-threatening environment. The art that they create reveals what is going on in their minds—perhaps struggles with peers, conflict at home, anxiety, or issues of self-worth. This is where the healing starts and grows.
